Consolidating 3 remotes? Universal?

Just ordered one of those for myself plus the PS3 adapter, going to turf four remotes in the process. Already have a HD PVR and know the remote is programmable (set it to control the amp volume instead of decoder and functions of other devices by turning the wheel) but I still find it a bit tedious and the ffwd/rew button drives me nuts.

What does the PS3 adapter do? Is the remote not able to control the PS3?

PS3 uses bluetooth instead of IR for its remote. The adapter converts IR signals to bluetooth commands for the console. I also have a PS3 remote but recently it randomly causes the console to freeze up (weird).

PS3 operates on bluetooth, not infrared, so you get a USB/infrared adapter
I still use my PS3 remote though, it works so well & is handy not to have to point it anywhere

Ahh thanks for the info :)

OK so I managed to programme my DSTV remote to replace my TV and reciever remote, really easy. . . .

BUT the only kak thing is that I need to switch the dial from 2 to A depending on what I want to do.

For DSTV it has to be on dial 2, if I want to switch on or off it has to be on dial A. This is a pain.

Am I doing something wrong?

You can program macros to avoid dialing in A, B, etc. Look in the manual.

I am still have the issue of having to switch the dial between A and 2 depending if I want to turn the tv on or off or change the DSTV channels.

What macro would I create to get around that?

Mine is like this:
Dial A power button is the TV on/off
Dial D power button is the TV on/off

I then created a macro so that Shift+power (on any dial) if a shortcut for A-power & D-power
Can't remember off hand how to create macros but its in the manual

Finally got around to programming my DSTV remote, and now I no longer think that sport is the only thing that Multichoice got right ;)
Now to go get moar.
