throughout all the threads I see that every now and then we all keep posting our own little conpiracy theories. So, thought i'd start a thread where we can all get our own paranoia out there.

Here's Mine:
Until I read the CEO's comments that he made during that interview with Moneyweb I didn't really have one but that interview really "tweaked" my paranoia.Dont quote me but he was asked about 3g and how he felt about. This was the point where he promptly whipped out his 3g card and began extolling the virtues of 3g and how uses it in his laptop when he can't get signal! This got me thinking that the chances of ever hearing Bill Gates telling us how he uses Windows XP at work but when he gets home he whips the Linux box for relaxation would be about a billion to one! The golden rule of marketing is that although you never run your competitors down, you never ever punt them over your own product.NEVER!! but yet Mr Mtshali does just that. The equvalent of corperate treason in places like the USA.Obviously the man is a bit of a figure head who's there for the interviews, picture sessions and the monthly board meeting ( and payday , of coarse!!!) .Now, since WBS is invloved with the lotto and they happened to be so lucky as to be awarded the only other wireless licence this fish really starts smelling somwhat.Clearly there is a BEE angle here of note.I find it incredable that we are such "pioneers" that we would be only the second country in the world to implement the Iburst technology! In a country where our president stands up and tells the world that HIV does'nt cause AIDS!! SA always plays catchup when it comes to implementtion of new stuff because no-one has the balls to make a decision that might get them fired.Yet here we are forging ahead! I also strongly believe that last weeks cuttoff's of the "BAD BOYS" had nothing to do with the network but all to do with economic's.The finance dept pushed through the cuttoffs because they believed that the heavy users would not honour there commitments and pay for any extra gigs that they had downloaded.Hence the extortion tactics of pay before we reconnect. And the reason that all this happened was because the bandwidth management system totally collapsed regardless of the fact that there was a full 6months plus trial period to test everything.I would love to know who bought, approved and was resposible for this system and if he is still employed?.There must definatly been abit of "palm greasing " to have allowed such a system to be put into place that crashed so spectaclularly! Overall the whole effort seems to smack of a very self assured attitude that no matter what WSB will remain in business because the normal rulles of business dont really apply to them. This explains the general attitude towards the customer.

On the plus side,if any of this proves true then quite possible WBS could end up with the best wireless network in Africa!! If you throw enough money at a problem, you are bound to fix it eventually, right? And especially if you dont really have to distract yourself with such trivial details as keeping customers happy or making a profit!!

So that mine. Now show me yours?

Regards

i believe cocopops were designed by a select group of people who's main objective is to rule the world. by eating cocopops one becomes less vigilant, angry and demanding. infact in the late 90's when there was a world wide shortage of cocopops there was an increase in rebellions across the world from the riots in america to the riots in germany and rome. in fact when last did you see a wbs leader eat cocopops which says to me that we are all being controlled by a kids breakfast cereal.

Aaaah...... c'mon bic!! give it a bash.I really had to get all that off my chest. Actually tried a couple of days ago but my PC crashed!!!!! ( should've taken the hint!)

lmao @ nickV

Tell you what, i'll print it out and read a few lines every night before i go to bed ;)

Aaaarg alright then!!!!!!! what did I expect only a bunch of losers would be stuck at home in front of there monitors on a Saturday night!!!!

(i've got a really good excuse, promise!!!!!!!!)

Actually you could be onto something there NickV, IMO the online system WBS have for purchasing additional bandwidth is a tad shoddy - perhaps WBS caught a wake-up & realised that customers might contend actually having bought additional bandwidth, another reason for the faxing of letters...

Thanx bic!

ic: i've seen alot of BEE sham's.The old gravy train just keeps on going in SA!

LOL @ Metronida-zoll - no idea what that is but I hope it makes u happy...:D

(My curiosity will get the better of me & I just know I will click the link...soon)

I want to understand, it sounds interesting!!!!!
Ok, let me explain, last time I looked at the http://helpdesk.wbs.co.za where you login to fiddle with stuff as well as purchase additional bandwidth, there was no SSL (https) anywhere to be seen [that might have changed now - I wouldn't know - I still refuse to use that awful web-non-site :(], there wasn't really much involved in obtaining additional bandwidth ITO legal disclaimer type stuff - not that I went too far & tried it].

So, enter the iBurster forumites that did give it a whirl & purchased additional bandwidth online via the insecure WBS system, and then used the purchased additional bandwidth up, got shunted onto the 64kBits/s throttle, saw that it was actually highly usable, decided not to purchase anymore additional bandwidth...

Now WBS & customers start realising that the "transaction" of purchasing additional bandwidth could be contested, and that customers could say they thought they were on the 64kBits/s throttle the whole time after the initial 3GB...

Do you see where my train of thought is going here...?

they have now two buttons. buy bw on account or buy bw on credit card and the site aint even using https.

Ok, so could one of the 10 different customers sharing the same username, please go find out if they keep the credit card details in the system for the other 9 suckers that use your username...

For research purposes a few years back, I checked some Mweb online services requiring credit cards, using a credit card generator, and most (at the time) worked fine. If WBS are stupid enough to have an insecure credit facility, what's to stop anyone from doing similar to someone elses account - filling it up with extra bandwidth from a fake credit card - and thus landing the target in deep trouble? Never mind filling up your own account, you can make big trouble for everyone else..

right... for research puposes you commited fraud.

anyways credit card generators just make random card numbers in the correct format, that will never get cleared through a merchant account, you need a matching cc number, security number and name/address to do that.
