My pc (bandwidth meter pro) keeps showing me that something is downloading from the internet. I have already tried doing what is on a sticky around here somewhere; I have run spybot and ad-aware as well as scanning for viruses - but nothing.

If I use tcpview there is nothing there that shows "established" except from the obvious like firefox etc. but even with everything closed there is still something downloading.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I'm using the one that comes with net limiter. I know, I know, its not a proper firewall but what bothers me is that tcpview doesn't pick anything up??

Do you know of any good free firewalls?

Comodo and ZoneAlarm have good free versions. The advantage of Comodo is that you will have extensive amounts of settings and you can see how much data is being downloaded from a website. This will be particularly useful for you if something is being downloaded in the background. It may also be that what you are seeing is not really something that is being downloaded, but just system interactions.

This morning a co-worker suggested I try uninstalling anything from add/remove programs that I dont know what it is and I found some program that had something to do with yahoo.

Uninstalled it now and so far it hasnt done it again.
