Sentech web site says its live, Sentech call centre says its live. 2 different people at NoWire say something about no approval for the tower and it was only live with a 1km radius, but since no one used it its now been taken down. They claim Sentech is wrong in saying the tower is live. Does anyone know the true facts?

Info I have is that in the beginning the Tree Huggers made such a fuss over this installation that the equipment and antenna's were placed in the top floor of the building with the antennae looking out closed windows through the metal frames.
The radiation patterns were seriously effected by this and the reinforcing in the concrete that this site only had a 1 km radius in some area's and less in others.
This has made it a very uneconomical site and has been shut down.
Other sites in the area are being investigated.

I thought the Constantia tower was shutdown? If so, wtf are they doing maintenance on it ? Or has it finally been moved somewhere else?

Sentech Cape Town confirmed the MyWireless Constantia tower was shut down, mainly because it was in a bad location (too low and surrounded by trees). There is currently no proposed alternate location. I wish Sentech would update their web site, it still lists Constantia as available. I assume some people can connect to Wynberg, but those further south in Tokai etc are in the dark. It is totally madness for Sentech to miss out on these suburbs where there are likely to be a lot of people and businesses wanting their services.
asmith, read my post above. Unless there is a Constantia Berg tower somewhere else, then they are definitely refering to a new tower in CT. The Constantia Berg hospital is very close to the old Megawan tower.
ContantiaBurg is the TV/radio xmiter on top of the mountain. No MyWireless up there.
It is also possible that either
1) Sentech HQ is confused about the tower names
2) Sentech HQ thinks the tower exists and is releasing notices about it being down for maintainance.
However Sentech Cape Town is quite certain there are now towers in Constainatia/Plumstead/Tokai etc. Closest is Wynberg. NoWire one of the local agents has also said the same thing to us.
