Hi guys, not sure if testing is going on or what but ive had iBurst for about 3 weeks now. Ive only been testing my speeds using the local speed test on myadsl, and in week 1 i averaged around 250kps. Week 2 around 500kps, and now i get 70kps at most since a week ago.
What the heck is going on ? I thought this was a 1M line ?

What are you we paying for again ? Ive taken Sentech to court i wont be shy to do the same here.

um welcome to the I have no bandwidth club... feel free to browse around the different threads and read for yourself. This is just another thread among many with the same question.

Court Action

k, anyone with me, ready to take them to small claims court ? :p
actually, im being kinda serious,...

we can pay them pro rata eg we supposed to get 1mbit line at R450. so if im getting 70kbit(70/1000) then we should pay R45 a month (R450/1000) .

is that not fair ?

What protocols are you trying ? if it is peer 2 peer ports etc , I know they have been working on traffic shaping on those types of ports.

Should it matter ? Im paying for a 1M line am i not ? if they want to shape it, then surely i can too....
Ill pay them R10 now,... possible another R10.00 in a month,... dont know,... will see how i feel...need to "shape" my cash flow,....

does that seem fair ?

Realistically, the only recourse you have is to walk with your feet. The service is supplied on a best endeavour basis, with bandwidth upto 1Mbps. If you were expecting a constant 1Mbps you've come to the wrong planet. No ISP can guarantee bandwidth, there are just way too many variables at play.

On the other hand, WBS, does need to keep its customers informed, and on that score they have been abysmal so far.

Basically, we all volunteered to be guinea pigs, and because broadband is so f***ed up in SA, we all happily paid for the privelege.

So WBS will continue to have an "out" until the official launch, but not beyond.

Yup it should matter ...

If you HAD READ up on your service , you would know you would be paying for up to 1MB downlink speed , that will be capped at 3GB and that traffic shaping would be applied on certain ports. Maybe people should read all teh relevant documentation and then they would see they have no grounds for bitching afterwards.

dude, i was kidding. Reading this forum has lead me to believe we have some really highly strung broadband users......
i say nothing,...

ps,
they could sell it at "upto 100 zillion MB" download speed then,... all im getting in around 50k,...worse than dial up,.... that sucks,...nuff said

well we're not all in the same boat as you and i consitantly get over 1Mbit, and BTW its not a 1Mbit line, its a potentially 1Mbit wireless hookup. You won't get anywhere in court so if you're not happy... take your money elsewhere

What more do you expect at the prices we pay?!?

Ok, My speeds are crawling and no the whole of last nigh no signal, from bryanstone. Rummor has it there bandwidth controller failed yesterday

My signal as well - bryanston did experience a problem. Doing the wicked traffic light dance that nobody can explain.....
