Hi there,

I need you guys help please. Been having endless problems with phone I received with my last upgrade. I know there is consumer act in place that I can cancel my contract? Does anybody know how this exactly works?

Did you take it in for repairs?

yep been there twice, and even got new one, had to send that in for repairs as well, so in short...

- new phone in december, had it for 2 weeks, started giving problems, booked in for repairs (just missed out of box failure date)
- after 10 days got new one, new one started giving problems as well in 4 days, booked in, and yep still without my new phone

been paying 2 months for something i don't have

And what is wrong with the device?

What is NOT wrong with the device ;) Understand that devices can be faulty but the after sales service from Vodacom has been terrible.

First time restarted the whole time, would not switch on without charger, phone got hot, dropped network, 2nd time drop network the whole time.. do you have any information on this consumer act? Would it be possible to cancel contract?

Things like this happen I guess, with regard to the service what has been the problem there? If they are taking 2 - 3 weeks to get a replacement/repaired phone to you I can assure you that this is standard across all networks.

With regard to the consumer act, I would suggest obtaining a copy of the upgrade documentation you signed. If you didn't read through it thoroughly, you will see that you agreed to the standard repair warranty from the service provider.

If your phone is in for repairs at the moment, see what happens with your replacement and take it from there, just my two cents.

Oh ja forgot to mention the last part, so I am getting new phone apparently (they told me this week ago), they don't have stock which I can understand then I found out that my phone has been credited as 5c and not 5s. I am just little bit frustrated with Vodacom, and look at time frame, almost 2 months. I am not happy with Vodacom at this stage.

Essentially the fact that your phone has been credited as a 5c not a 5s is not really your problem, that is for Vodacom/Vodacare to sort out after the fact. Stock should take 3 - 4 days to arrive from JHB, unless you are already in JHB? I would escalate here, speak to a branch manager or something. What store did you upgrade at?

The branch manager was suppose to get back to me this morning, nothing yet. I am based in Johannesburg. Upgraded at Vodashop Nelson Mandela square, they said I can collect the new phone from Vodashop in Sandton city.

its not worth cancelling so soon into the contract, the penalty fees will be too high and they will in all likelihood charge you for the handset since they subsidised you for it.I cancelled my gym contract with virgin active after 8 months into a two year contract and it cost me about 1/3 of the remainder of the contract but i saved in the long run.i believe they are allowed to charge you a percentage of the remainder of the contract.if you phone vodacom cancellation department and enquire with them they can tell you how much you will pay

I would definitely not want to go the route of cancelling my contract but the way this has case has been handled is not how I want to receive service from provider. The Vodashop owner just phoned me now and informed me the credit has still not been sorted out.
