Can't be bothered to type it all - so here's a scan - sorry for the small download to all those throttled people!

Read all about it - standards for marketing and bait marketing.

In October this year we will be able to SUE companies that do this because we all have rights as consumers!

This applies to all those other companies out there that have been screwing around with the consumer for far too long. Beware!

I would love to stick up for Afrhost, but I simply can't in this case. We have been sold something which didn't live up to the original sales pitch -- or even the amended one.

Please see here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?223705-Official-Afrihost-Q-amp-A-Thread&p=3806245&viewfull=1#post3806245 for my reasoning -- and some speedtest.net data to go with that.

Allegedly, an Afrihost staff member has posted on HelloPeter that the uncapped accounts are not suitable for YouTube streaming. Information like that should be openly available on the sign-up pages. Not to mention that it makes it kind of pointless to have a "4096 uncapped" service when you can't even reach 1/8 of that.

I want a copy of this act??

Wife is a lawyer, she got it from Webber Wentzel, not sure if it's available for download.

It's Act No. 68 of 2008 which has been promulgated and comes into effect October 2010. What's interesting is that you don't have to be afraid of high attorney costs. Courts will be given "wide powers" to represent people against companies in contravention. This is why I say BEWARE - the first world has had this for a long time and it's now coming to a court near you.

Isn't there some sort of 'consumer version' that informs people of their newfound rights?

I'm sure it will be on Carte Blanche Consumer again in the near future...

No wonder companies are scrambling to release their deals, misguiding consumers with the aim to garner as many customers as possible before the act forces them to play open cards.

This law is a good thing! How much uphill would it be to sue a company that falsifies info?
