Consumer protection / Ridiculous claw back charges / porting

I'm 6 months from the end of my contract and 2 months from an upgrade, and I find myself without a useful phone. I'm with autopage and tried to see if I paid in I could do an early upgrade or what the cost of porting would be too get a new phone.

No early upgrade is not an option apparently, So I'm left with porting or canceling my contract at a cost of R5000 and change. My monthly bill is R390 which only comes to R2700. Is this charge legal ? Do I have other options other than buying a phone cash ?

They dont allow early upgrades as you are in essence still paying off on the cellphone you got when the current contract period was initiated. The early cancellation dees makes no sense whatsover, but I suggest you stick it out as they will bill you these amounts should you decide to port/cancel now, and you might end up with your name on ITC.
