Briefly:

* I am aware BlueBean Credit Cards, via Standard Bank, were being switched to pin number cards as far back as 2011.

* Discovery Credit Cards (in conjunction with FirstRand) are still switching existing cards to pin number cards as late as July 2014 and they were until recently still issuing non-pinned cards well after other credit card providers had already replaced non-pin card with pin cards.

* In mid 2014, there are still Discovery/FirstRand cards that don't require a pin in order to be used.

* Discovery/FirstRand are performing these changes to their new pinned cards in batches.

* During these phased batch replacements, existing Discovery Credit Cards are naturally switched to replacement pin number cards at no charge to the consumer and with no inconvenience to the Discovery C/C user.

However, and this is when I question the value of consumers to Discovery/FirstRand Card Divisision, should you wish to change your existing Discovery C/Card to a pin number C/Card **prior** to your name being drawn out a hat for inclusion in these batch phases, then the replacement fee is R145. Your existing card will be immediately cancelled and will remain cancelled until you receive your new pinned card.

Good service?
