First off, this is not a flaming thread. I simply need a solution.

Almost two years ago, I walked in at the Hatfield Telkom shop with my trusty debit card, paid all my accounts and closed all my accounts due to the fact I'm moving.

Imagine my surprise two months later when my previous landlord calls me up to say that there's two Telkom bills addressed to me. Ever since then, I've called them, walked into their shops and the issue won't be resolved.

All I get is new dispute reference numbers and a promise that either someone from Telkom will contact me, or I'll get a new bill stating a zero balance. Neither happens.

Now, the bill has almost doubled and I'm getting legal threats. But what am I to do? Calling them gets me nowhere (IF the phone gets answered) and the people at the shops give me a blank expression.

I'm in a similar situation as you - am going to write Icasa & DTI, don't know if that will help!

Please keep me informed. I'll be attempting another call-waiting marathon tomorrow. My record before giving up was over two hours.

I'm in a similar situation - Requested to cancel multiple times, but I still pay the bill (I've now been charged 3 times for a line I don't want to use), since the cancellation is "In Progress" every time I check (Walk into the Pavilion Telkom Shop) ....

As I didn't receive a bill last month, I assumed that it had been cancelled - This month I now have a "Interest - R2.10" on the bill in addition to the monthly R133.30 since I didn't pay it....

Damn thieves -_-

Moral Of The Story: If you request to cancel a Telkom Line, expect to pay at least R500, and wait half a year...

- Edit -

Honestly - For the love of.... HOW HARD IS IT TO CANCEL A FREAKING LINE?!?!?!?

- Edit 2 -

Their e-mail bills still say:
