He wants to use the contactor with the sonoff wireless unit. To control it remotely and schedule running times. If I'm correct.I am really confused as to why this was used.
I'm actually thinking of doing the same thing. Interesting project.

The Sparky didn't know what he was doing...I am really confused as to why this was used.

The ultimate goal was to wireless control the geyser timer.I am really confused as to why this was used.
Exactly my thought processThe coil is rated at a certain voltage. So by nature, the Sonoff is made to control mains connected stuff up to a certain wattage. If you exceed this wattage, contacts going to burn. But just installing a better relay (contactor) that can be controlled from the output of the Sonoff, makes that the Sonoff contacts won't burn as the only load on it is the coil (which now has to be able to take 220V ac)
This is the one that was incorrectly used
This looks perfect but I will try to find one with override controlFor the Hager brand, this is the 220vac din rail contactor.
I would laugh if this didn't cost me money...Maybe he just liked sparks a bit more than he should...
I already considered the Sonoff Pow R2(16A) but too many horror stories of this burning
How long have you had it installedReally? I recently installed a POWR2 in the ceiling to remotely manage a heatpump. Pulls about 12A max. Is that a problem?
About two months. How long have you had it installed
Well the powr is rated at 16A max. So would say derate it to a working current of abot 14. Your close nut I think you are okReally? I recently installed a POWR2 in the ceiling to remotely manage a heatpump. Pulls about 12A max. Is that a problem?
Interestingly from the strip down of the POW R2, the internal relay is actually only 15AWell the powr is rated at 16A max. So would say derate it to a working current of abot 14. Your close nut I think you are ok

Really open to suggestions guysThe ultimate goal was to wireless control the geyser timer.
As Sonoff devices are rated 10A and the geyser can pull up between 13A- 15A for a 3kw geyser, the goal was to use the sonoff to trigger the contactor which will turn the geyser on.
This was the safest way that I could think of doing it unless someone has another suggestion to get wireless control of the geyser?

Your idea is fine, but the implementation was not great. Get the correct contactor and do it again.Really open to suggestions guys
Your original idea will work. Just get a 220vac contactor. Rated at the 25amps. I wonder what the lifespan of the sonoff units is.Really open to suggestions guys
