I'm busy watching - with much interest - the Q&A session from the Broodband Shootout... yes i'm a little behind but i've been busy.
I was interested in the responses to RPM's question about contention ratios.
Lots of sidestepping by a number of panelists and a BIG up to Vodacom (vodacom3g) for releasing their ratios
However - for the providers who were not as forthcoming: one excuse was given that contention ratios do not present valid details on the QoS that users receive.
So then why can't they give us data on QoS standards and policies that they have - and specifically: the loading on their lines... what is the % usage over different times of the day on say SAT-3. International providers are more than happy to release this data. My interneational web host - for eg - has no shame in announcing and providing graphs of the loading on their backbone lines that indicates the lines have an average loading of only 60%!!!!
