Continuation After 24 month contract is up

I know that after your 24 month cellphone contract term is up, you switch to a month-to-month basis if you do not wish to upgrade or terminate. Should the service provider still be charging me the full monthly subscription even though the cellphone subsidy is paid up? Should they not drop the rate and start charging the base rate for that contract?

I have an Anytime200 contract with MTN and was due for an upgrade at the beginning of November 2011. I chose not to upgrade yet because I am waiting for the Xperia Arc S or the Bold 9900 on Anytime 200. My current monthly subsciption is R330pm. Shouldn't this now change to R200 + any extra's like Itemised billing and BIS?

Is there anyway that I can claim back that phone subsidy that I have been paying over the past few months?

With MTN - forget it. You knew the contract has expired yet you did nothing about it. Read the small print. At least you woke up. Some people pay for more then a year the entire amount before realizing whats going on.

Nope. It'll run at full subscription amount until you convert to pre-paid or upgrade your contract.

This only holds true if you are paying more than the normal subs for the contract.

I'm on a reduced sub on my Anytime350 and I'll bet anything that it will be full price when my contract ends at the end of this month.
