Hi All,

I have been experiencing a problem since the ADSL Line was installed about a month or so ago! The problem is each time a Telephone call comes in my internet line is disconnected and takes roughly 25 seconds to reconnect! Is this normal? You might ask do I have a filter on the other line, Yes I do, in fact I have tried even putting 2 filters on! Has anyone else had a similar problem? Do i need to contact Faults and if so does anyone have their number off hand?

Thanks Guys
Richard

Oh and RPM great job on the site [;)] keep it up!

if you look around myadsl, there is somebody like you who fixed the problem.
have a look.

First:

Don't put 2 filters on the same point, it wouldn't help at all and may even cause further problems.

Second:

It does sound like the problem you're experiencing is a filter problem (as this is the type of symptom you get when you're on an unfiltered line), can you successfully dial out without it disconnecting, or does it still persist, if so, either a) get the filter replaced, b) make sure the filter you have is in fact a modified filter (you need to remove 2 flaps from the filter to make it work right).

Third:

Get Telkom to check your line attentuation (this is the rate at which the ADSL/call signal drops off, if it's higher than 60dB ADSL will not function right), and lastly, get the Telkom technicians in to come fix it.
