Hi there,

I have a few questions in regards to getting a contract.

I am fairly new to SA (moved here in July). Been working since August now and I wanna get a contract.

Thing is, I have no proof of address, but I do have at least 3 months wage slips.

Is there any way for me to get a contract? Would an affidavit suffice?

Also, Is there a way to get a customised contract? I wanna get the HTC One M9, but I dont want any SMS's on the contract. Just want at least 100 minutes and 500mb data.

All help will be appreciated!

Thanks! :)

Customised contracts are possible (at least on Vodacom). (Although I don't think you'll be allowed to modify the old Talk120 any more (so they'll suggest you go for Smart M which already has 300SMS and 300MB Data in it, so they'd want you to slap another 200MB monthly on to that for a total of probably around R400 just for the contract itself before you get to additionally paying in on the phone).
Not sure about the other, perhaps PM Ockie if you're thinking of going Vodacom.

What is your living situation? Where are you based?

Man that sounds kinda pricey. I did see a deal on Vodacom for R550 p/m which is what I'm interested in though. It comes with R200 per month, thing is, I dont know how tarrifs and stuff work here lol.

I am currently living in Midrand. I rent a 2 bedroom flat with my brother, but my brothers name is on the lease.

Well how the tariff works depends on what the contract you're looking at is. Though if it comes with a value that sounds like a TopUp contract, which means it's basically not a contract, more Pay-as-you-go with a predetermined set monthly value.

Hmmm. I still would prefer if there were more options on their contracts though. Vodacom does seem like my best bet for now I guess.

Just gotta figure out the proof of residence part now.

I think you need a letter stating you live there from the person on the proof of residence

Ockie can help with that (which is why he asked) because whilst he isn't quite an official rep he works for Vodacom (on the corporate side) and always helps us forum members out.

I am based in Midrand. You can supply a letter from your boet with copy of his ID with first few pages of the lease with his name and address on it to me as proof of address. Let me know if you want me to assist you.

Hey sorry,

I actually went to the Vodacom shop today. I have to wait another month unfortunately. My 3 pay slips I have for the past 3 months are from two different work places (1 pay slip is from my old work place and the other will be from here and I will get my second pay slip next week). :(
