I signed up through PerDM marketing. My app was approved but they say I have to give R1000 deposit which i get back at the end of my contract. Could anyone please advise me on this or point me in the right direction.

Your assistance is much appreciated!!:)

They ask for a R1000 deposit if you do not meet their credit vetting criteria. I think it's a nice way of doing it, instead of just saying "sorry you don't qualify" like the cellphone providers, they allow you to pay a deposit.
This deposit covers them if you don't pay or whatever.

Thanks so can I object to this or ask them the reasons I did not qualify (just want to find out from your experience)

You can ask, but I can almost guarantee that they'll just say something like "we have a specific vetting criteria that you have to meet to get the contract without a deposit". Unless you are listed by one of the credit bureaus, in which case they have to advise you of this, and you can then take it up with the bureau if the listing is in error.

Its almost standard with everyone.
I couldn't understand why I didn't qualify, got a bond, car finance and 3 credit cards.
Basically a total approved amount of R1035000 and they still said I didn't qualify.
Its capital for the company I tell you.

Not sure what SP you applied with, but with VSP, the reasons why the credit vetting system might decline you:

1. MONTHLY INCOME TOO LOW
2. LISTED ON ITC
3. NO CREDIT HISTORY

In most cases, if the client is listed on ITC, the application will be declined outright and ITC needs to be contacted. But when it comes to someone who mabye earns less than the preferred amount, VSP most likely will still approve the contract, but limit you to a certain portfolio of packages that you are allowed. For example, some one who does not meet the desired criteria, but have a clear credit history might be limited to the Top Up packages and will not be able to take out a Talk 500 for example. The store where you applied will be able to tell you what packages you qualify for once the credit vetting have been done on the system.

In some cases, if a contract is declined, the store can request a declined review from VSP New Business department. In such a case, all docs (application, ID, bankstatements etc) will be faxed to them, they will review it and then either approve it or decline it.

Wow, things have changed quite a bit.
I used to work for vodac (when they were still called vodac) and they used to just flat decline.
They did bring out G.A.P. contracts, but they never seemed to take off too well. It's interesting to see that they have improved their processes so much.

Your outcome is based on internal Neotel credit vetting criteria which complies with the necessary legislation governing telecoms service providers (NCA etc.).

Individual information pertaining to your applicaiotn maybe forwarded to credit managment team for individual feedback. Log this via calling the call centre on 0800 333 636.

Individual feedback will then be provided.

Thanks guys and Mr. Neotel - great feedback!
Will let you know how things pan out:)
