Hi,
I stay in Centurion and was searching for Wireless internet service provider. I found this company http://www.convergencenet.co.za/index.html, applied for a 2Mbps line, they came installed and the service was up and running.
First week I complained about my slow speeds and also that my torrents were not working, they sorted it out and then I tried streaming and using Netflix and Hulu+ which couldn't stream and then upgraded to a 6Mbps line. I had good speeds and everything worked fine for 2days then I got issues with streaming again.
I spoke to the Director (Dean) he then gave me a lecture on the Contention Ratio (1:20) and that is why I was getting bad speeds. I then requested to move to an 8Mbps which meant they should change my antenna to a rocket one with a dish, which he did and all was good.
Come the 1st of August low speeds, no connection for hours and sent a mail to him and no response. I then called and was promised an answer (no luck no calls). Two days after the entire line was down and then I called and I was told that they will be replacing a radio on the tower and thus no internet for the next day too.
Finally they got back internet and all hell went lose, not getting the speeds of an 8Mbps line, torrents not working, streaming very poor even on Youtube. Sent an email again and I was told contention ratio is causing it and that at night I will get better speeds. I checked speeds from 10pm all they way to 3am and no improvement but surprisingly getting constant readings. Did test with my neighbour and came to a conclusion I was not on a 8Mbps line.
I then emailed Dean again and he never responded, then the line was down again and I was told they had a power issue on the tower, and the entire day there was no communication and when I finally called they told me the line is back. I checked everything was still not fine.
I then told the guys to issue me with termination process and then things changed.
They needed 30days to cancel (when the website only said immediate cancelation and should be done before the 24th of each month).
They then said I should tell them when to come pick up their equipment (I was surprised as the installation fee is R1200) - I asked what was included in the installation fee (he responded labour, time spent on site, network cable and consumables, the equipment (antenna and dish) and ACSA Fees) - on their website they don't say anything about renting the equipment and the fees.
Now since I have already paid for the Month of August I told them to come pick up equipment on the 1st of September and guess what my line is downgraded to a 2Mbps line with no luck in streaming.
Just my experience with a company that claims to be a reputable one when it comes to service and customer satisfaction.
I will be moving to www.level-7.co.za soon and my neighbour has already begun his journey and he is happy.
