I've just converted my first AVI to DVD with Nero on my new PC.

On my old PC, P4 2.8HT with 1024MB Ram it usually took me about 2hours to do this.

On my new PC, Core 2 Duo E6600 with 1024MB Ram it just took me 35min.

What times do you guys get?

Using nerovision express? I gave up with that app last month after continuous sync issues but 35 minutes sounds really impressive. :)

My P133 can do it in 2-seconds.

1 Second AVI - Encoded with DivX 6.2

Not only does the speed impress me between my old 2.8 HT and new 2.13 dual core, but the temp. While decoding P4 run at 80 C, Dual Core about 35C.

Is dual core not great. i use notebooks and the difference between the last one(single core) the current(dual) is chalk and cheese.

Have to say I'm loving the c2d in my lappy - especially when the software takes advantage if the dual cores. :)

Nero compalined recently that my free period was up and that it wanted me to buy something. i forget what the exact message was.

What programs are people using to convert avi to dvd? I have tried ConvertxtoDVD but was not overwhelmed.

With the nero sync problems I was experiencing I gave DVD2SVCD a try and it got the job done.

I havent tested it on a dual core yet so ymmv

best I've used is winavi...no complains at all. it handle mulitples file types and can batch convert as well

You can also use nanVue, it was developed locally by
TivoZA for use with a tivo but you can also use to to convert files even if you don't have a tivo.

nanVue Download

If you not using a Tivo, first select "Import & Upload", then in the "Convert & Transfer" window select the required profile, click ok. Now under "Destination", select a local drive for the output.

Usually takes me about an hour for an hour of video [P4 3.6 HT 1024 DDR2 RAM].

I've also been having sync issues with Nerovision.

Any suggestions for a similar program or how to fix the problem?
I don't just want an AVI-to-DVD program, I want something that will allow me to customize the DVD disk quite a bit.
