Convert LTE contract to Fiber contract

Hi all,

Just wanting to know if i can "convert" my Telkom LTE contract into a fiber contract?

I renewed my LTE contract 4 months ago, and in the past few weeks OpenServe installed fiber in my area. So I wish to switch to fiber as the LTE has always been very unstable, although my only option. Until fiber now.

Anyone got any tips? 3 different call center agents, plus a chat agent didnt know.
 
The way Telkom works i'd hazard that you can't

Unless you find a super clued up person who could work some magic. The entities are entirely separate
 
I've exhausted my patience, plus Telkom's collective knowledge.

The gist is this..... cancel LTE contract stating evidence of Fiber contract. Then roll the dice that someone clued up notices the correlation and acts accordingly, providing no contract cancellation penalties.

I'm not at this point ready to roll the dice :P
 
I contacted Telkom late last year with the same request. I have the SmartBroadband Wireless Unlimited All Hours package, it has a 150 GB cap before being throttled to 4 Mbps for the next 50 GB, then 2 Mbps thereafter.

I was told that I need to pay a cancellation fee of the LTE contract first (about R 2500). I've had the contract for 13 months or so.

Apologies for the thread necro...

But does anyone know if Telkom still operates likes this? Do you have to cancel LTE, pay the cancellation fee, and then get the fibre, even if you remain with Telkom for your fiber?

I've got about 3 of 4 months left of an "Uncapped" LTE contract, after being migrated from DSL. Worst 18 months of my life, internet-wise. Now fiber is finally available in my area.

Unfortunately, I just can't afford cancellation fees. Can only afford to move over to a fiber package of the same (or less) monthly fees.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I managed to migrate from my LTE contract to a fiber contract today. I had 4 months left on my LTE contract, but was informed that because I'm staying within Telkom, they can do the migration, for free. No penalties.

Just be careful with this one. Telkom phoned me in March and offered to cancel my LTE contract if I took a Premium fibre contract. I did and later found out from everyone I phoned as to why I still paying for the LTE, only to be told that there isn't such an offer. I ended up paying for the remainder of the contract as well as the router in the end. I spoke to someone this week about my fibre latency and she said it states on my account that the LTE was to be cancelled with now penalty. Good luck to me getting the refund.
In all honestly, I miss my LTE. I have had endless problems with Fibre. My current one is high Ping from 7pm to 23pm every night. Spent over 1000 Vodacom minutes phoning them at night to fix it with no success. I had far better pings in gaming on LTE with no disconnects compared to Fibre.
