I have one of these old wind pumps on my small holding. I'm not using it any more to pump water but it is still in a working condition. So what I was wondering if I could modify it so I can produce electricity from it.

Anybody any thought on this?

it could work, in Jeffreys Bay there is a shopping centre (Equinox Mall) which has a wind pump on top, this generates electricity to run the lights in the bathrooms and corridors.

Hang onto it for dear life as it could be your life saver one day - I recon the way things are going with energy resources drying up left, right & center; we all may have to revert back to the way things were done in the old days. I also live on a small holding, have a electric pump to pump water - but would look at a windmill to generate electricity (if I have the bucks would just go ahead and do it). Escom is proving to be very unreliable in our areas with power cuts the order of the day. Would give anything to be independent of them!
