Converting 4mb to 10mb telkom line

Hi

Does any one know what the procedure is to upgrade a telkom 4mb line to a 10mb. Is it allowed around the Eco-Park estate, Highveld, Centurion

You have to wait for Telkom to do that,at their discretion, you can't even apply for it to be done - if you exchange supports it as well.

It's a bit frustrating, I know.

You don't do anything, it will automatically be upgraded once Telkom gets their act together. I stay and work in Centurion, and not a single exchange in Centurion has been upgraded to 10Mbps. Quite ironic considering that we host the Telkom Datacentre.

Telkom is still busy with testing, only a handful individuals have been upgraded at this time.

Goto this link https://secureapp.telkom.co.za/dsl10checker/availability.do to check if your exchange supports 10mbps - Telkoms DB isn't 100% up to date but it works for me. Once you get the green signal call 0800375375 and ask them to put you on a 10mb profile they'll ask you to to test stability and if it's unstable they will drop you to 8 then 6 etc till its stable.

They upgrade per area, my area (Auckland Park/Melville, JHB) was upgraded end of November 2010, I also checked my number on the link Ry4n posted above.
It makes a huge difference! I recently got an uncapped 4mbps line from Afrihost and I average 5.5mbps download speed

Could MyBB get an official update from Telkom as to the progress and plans for the 10MB upgrades? It seems as if this has never really gotten off the ground.

Tried calling them but seems there is no 10mbps capacity on my exchange (although it does support 10mb)

Off-topic, how are you liking the ROG Rampage III Formula mobo??

Just call Telkom ADSL and ask them. If your exchange supports it they do it on the phone while you wait. But be careful, 10MB needs a very stable and noise free line or your connection will constantly drop.
