Converting film to digital

Hello,

I've got an old Pentax film camera at home and it's got a huge lens. So I want to take some photos with it at the Waterkloof air show on the 1st October.

I read that there's this little machine that can convert the negative films to digital photos. Are there any photography shops that can do this for you instead of buying the machine?

Thank you in advance!

It is typical that a photo lab can offer the service of scanning the film to a CD at the same time that they do the developing. This can also save you the cost of having prints done in order to evaluate the photos.

1. The photo shop is probably not going to put too much time or effort into converting your pics. You will probably end up with low-res, highly compressed, poorly saturated jpegs.
2. The "little machine" is probably a waste of money if it's the one I'm thinking of (this one?). You will be better off buying a decent scanner with a film attachment.

(Not being 'negative' :) I have been through a great deal of cursing in efforts to convert slide/negative to digital - best results are my own efforts. The process is pretty time consuming.)

Agreed . The shop`s staff wont apply the necessary Hue/Contrast/brightness/vibrance etc.
Get a nice flatbed with a camera negtive scanner attatched

Hi. So you say the best way is to buy a scanner with a film attachment?

Where can I buy one of these?

Thanks.
