Converting geyser to use solar

Good day everyone. As we all notice the cost of living is out of hand. Electricity cost is just getting worse by the day. So I started looking at retrofiting my existing geyser to use solar power. I've seen 2 options so far the Elon 100 and the geyser wise waterheating system. I would like to know if anyone has go this route what are the draw backs. I already have the solar panels. I was looking at gas but in my area we have consistent issues with water pressure due to rand water and municipality.

If you already have panels I assume you have this connected to an inverter?
why not run the Geyser off your inverter you going to spend roughly 8 to 18k converting you Geyser you might as well spend that on upgrading your solar system with more panels and or another battery and get more usage out of it not just heating water.

I have a solar Geyser ( ev tube though) and I connected it to my solar system the ev tubes are hardly used anymore plus it's not in winter and PV in winter is lower more panels help alot

Thank you for your response. The reason I wanted to go with this option was I wasn't aware that one can use the inverter battery on it. Thought it will shorten the battery life span drastically. My system in on the smaller side 3kw will this be enough? Would I have to add a bigger inverter? As the heavy power user is the geyser. I use gas for the oven and stove.

3kw inverter definitely not going to work. Unless you have only like a 50l Geyser.

Rather look at upgrading the inver
5kw or 6kw maybe if you can really keep the family in check with what they use at the same time.

8kw or higher recommend

Do not drop the element to a lower kw you just going to waste your time and don't fall for the PTC elements story
As for battery if you have lead acid don't bother, if lithium depending on the c rating

I'm running 2 x 3kw Geysers on a 8kw inverter I just make sure that both not on at the same time although I have tested running both no issues but doesnt give much breathing room
