Guys,

I have a film in .mkv format that I would like to burn to DVD for someone without a PC.

When I googled "convert mkv to dvd" a plethora of programs and hints/suggestions are returned.

I have tried DVD Flick, but the output is jerky/stuttery and a massive drop in quality compared to the original (720p) .mkv film.

The forums on this topic speaks of such complicated terminology, and some of the programs' screenshots I have seen has more options to set than Windows itself:D

Is there someone that could point me in the right direction with regards to finding a simple yet efficient program that could do the conversion for me. I don't mind paying for a decent solution, although it is only for a single conversion at this stage. The DVD would be a xmas gift for someone so the quality should be decent.

Thanks for your help, Rudi

I use DVDFab, gives great quality, easy and simple to use. But it's not free :p

Codecs are up to date. Will check out VSO ConvertXtoDVD 4 and AnyVideoConverter. Important thing is for me to have references before I buy, and if you guys believe in these products then it's worth a try.

Get ["SUPER"]http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html[/URL], it's, well, just super :P Basically can convert any codec to any codec and its free!

Yeah I just got a Quad Core because ConvertXtoDVD (And ALL other programs) took forever on my old CPU. Now it takes 30min tops. ConvertXtoDVD is so simple. And you can, with a bit of knowledge, make menu's etc........ DVDFab is also good but ugh, I just don't like it!

I wouldn't recommend convertxtodvd cause it sometimes doesn't compensate for fps difference meaning after awhile the audio and video go out of sync on the dvd, rather use Nero 10 Vision is has the ability to convert .mkv to dvd now and always works, has never let me down.

I agree, ConvertXtoDVD is the best program for converting virtually any file type to VOB (DVD).

Well based on the majority being in favour of ConvertXtoDVD, I have obtained a copy and agree that it does work well, fairly quick and realtively easy to set up. If any of the experts wants to post some tips and ways to work with ConvertXtoDVD, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for all the opinions, Rudi
