I am considering switching over to Web Africa's Titan Special. What happens between application and switchover ?

I am worried that while I am waiting to be switched, I might loose connectivity.

Does Telkom disconnect you (as 'punishment'), I am hoping for a seamless switchover.

Oh, and finally how long did u have to wait.

There is no loss of connectivity. :)

I don't know anything about Telkom's procedure, but I know that my ISP needs 30 days notice. That is why if I cancel I will do it in the last week of this month (then I will still need to pay for next month). At the end of September I will be able to get Titan without having to pay double (meaing paying for 2 ISPs for access in the same month). If the Titan special is no longer available then I will just get uncapped.

There is no connectivity loss. I switched from Telkom Faster DSL to WebAfrica Titan 50GB 4MB and never had any issues.
I applied for Titan with WA, and they requested that the line be transferred to them because Data Only Titan was no longer available. It took around 3-4 weeks to do the transfer, but this was over the World Cup, so the freeze period was still in effect. It is probably much quicker now.
During the line transfer, I kept on using Telkom as my ISP as normal. When Web Africa contacted me with my new username & password, telling me that the line had been transferred successfully, then I phoned Telkom, and asked to cancel from using them as my ISP. Had to tell them that I still wanted my line active, but to get rid of the data portion. They did this immediatley, and it was around 27 June, so I only started paying WA from 1 July, and paid my normal amount to Telkom for the usage I had for the whole of June. I'm loving the support, speed & higher cap on WA. Best move I have made so far.

Did you have to explain to Telkom that ADSL rental would be paid via Web Africa from now on ?
In your telkom statement, are you now only left with Analogue rental, meaning, you are no longer billed for R413.00 (DSL Fastest) ?

Thanks for your replies.

Hi qDot

I have sent you a PM explaining the whole process of transferring your line from your current ISP to WA.

I trust that all your questions will have been answered with it. :D

Please feel free to pm me with any other queries or questions you might have.

Thank you.

i just fired webafrica - i was on a 15gb titan package. i found the performance poor for gaming and the support even worse.

if you want good value for downloading - go for it - it wont be quick.

if you think you're going to play MW2 or WoW - expect to fail with inconsistent latencies. if there's a problem, don't expect fast turnaround or knowledgeable support.

but, at 199 for 15gb, there's no denying that for people who need to do 10gb a month of downloading its useful.

not recommended for gamers.

I have a complete package with WA (30 gig and 4 meg line) and I have to say that 99% happy with speed and consistency. I am not a gamer. The move took a bit of time but was seamless and I was at no stage without internet.

Sorry to hear about Boodah issues with support - must say bar one person in support, I have generally been very happy with the standards and response times. I think WA has made real progress.

WA's service is really great IMO. They communicate extremely well via e-mail. I am on the Titan 1 deal with 15GB/month for R299 (ADSL line rental included) & I always get good speeds. My line is dead now though but that is Telkoms fault. :(

Just switched from Cybersmart uncapped to WebAfrica Titan 50 GB - WHAT A PLEASURE! - many thanks WA! Let me know when I can purchase more...

Angelo, if you can fwd that same PM to me I would appreciate it, therefore allowing me to understand what the process will entail.
