Cooked myself last night

I heard the worst thing you can do is run it under cold water...

as your skin gets a shock but suddenly being super hot, and then another shock by suddenly being cold...

They say the best is to hold your hand tightly over it, so as to bring it back to normal body temp as soon as possible...

after that, gently cover with gauze, and leave as is...

good luck,,,

I don't see why that would be the case, we're not made of glass? Any literature to back that up?

Man, I miss the days when we still had Picric Acid in our lab! Now they think that a a compound so closely related to TNT should not be allowed in a petrochemical factory! It worked wonders for burns! It was used to treat the victims of the Hindenburg.

Now I read that you shouldn't apply any lotion or ointment because it traps the heat inside. too much conflicting info out there!

According to the St Johns First Aid Emergency Response course I did (the UK get very uppity about their Health & Safety requirements), you should hold it under cold water for at least 7-10mins and avoid ointments/lotions unless the wound is open (in which case a light gauze and disinfectant is all that should be applied).

Haha remind me not to seek medical advice on this forum , looks like fap is the answer to everything.

Thats only with ICE. Water is the best thing you can do.

mmediate first aid for burns
First, stop the burning to prevent a more severe burn.
Really? I thought that keeping the fire on was beneficial?
