ever since the "go slow" a month or 2 ago, my modem runs COLD COLD COLD. it used to run very hot, and back then in earlier posts we all thought it had something to do with batteries recharging, but now its cold ALL the time, which means - no data transfer - no heat.

anyone cold?

and dont get me started on modem cold starts, now forced to run modem even when pc off, just coz cant restart it when cold.

maybe sentech back then saw the problems with overheating modems (even proasm said sentech looking into the overheating) and decided slow down everyone, cool their modems down, and they get to last the 2 year period. sentech prob got worried with thousands of returned overheated melted modems..... aaaaargh thinks i cracked the code!!!

Not a bad grab at a straw.......shows how desperate we have all got

I have got 6 - 12 Kb speeds since yesterday.....

I made a change to my PC and then suddenly i got decent speed

Had to set up a network and did an ipconfig /renew which failed as i dont have DHCP running

Rebooted my machine and voila got back decent speed

Have noticed that if i limit my uploads to 1K the speed stays, if i up it to 5K then speed drops to 6 KB

Not sure if it is anything but thats the only changes i made and it cam back

Will be enjoying while it lasts.........

Which tower do you connect to Kickass72za?

Temp has nothing to d owith the service

Fantasy is what people want, reality is what they need.

And checked the modem and it is warm at 12K ...... if that helps anyone

Like i said tempreture has NOTHING to do with anything guys, stop being crazy

Fantasy is what people want, reality is what they need.

Crazy.......we have all lost touch with REALITY.......FANTASY RULEZZZZZZZZZ

If we wanted reality we wouldn't have got a "MYWIRELESS"

Found my modems to runhot when the signal was 3 dots or lower

They run cool when signal is 4 dots

Perhaps the modem functions more or less like the engine of a car, runs better when hot.
What I trying to say is maybe its not the speed causing the modem to run cold, but the modem being cold causes the slow speeds.

That might expain the slow speeds since beginning of may, the beginning of the cold weather?

Oops, I just added another line to the standard automatic response form of sentech tech support.

Perhaps the transmitting power is inversely proportional to the signal strength. Makes sense, cell phones work that way.
