I was a bit hesitant to sign up with Openserve, knowing their Telkom roots.
After moving in to a new place, and getting online 2 days ago, my internet went down today at around 11:00. I waited a while, because these things sometimes sort themselves out within 20 minutes or so.
I checked outage areas. Nothing about where I am.
I logged a ticket with Cool Ideas just after12:00. They called around 13:00 to find out about the lights on the router etc, confirmed there is no general outage, and they will have to log a call with Openserve.... Great.
I get an SMS saying that the call is logged with Openserve, and I can track it with their app, which I decided to install, because I REALLY want my fibre back. The app said an appointment is scheduled between 8:00 and 16:00 today. That sounds a bit optimistic, but whatever.
Around 16:00, I get a call from the technician, who then comes out to my place, investigates, replaces my ONT and resplices a connection (or more) at a box. And my internet is back!
So, about 5 hours from when I logged a ticket using an online system to a technician coming out and my internet being restored. I'm pretty impressed. I don't think you can expect any better turnaround for residential internet.
