Cool Ideas-Bad routing/Packet Loss

Apologies unfortunately I'm on leave and those images don't open at a decent enough resolution on mobile. From what I can see there is no loss to the destination?

Your network is 25ms hop, VPN is 6-7ms.
No packet loss to destination, only the hops involving cool ideas network, don't think that's an issue either. Latency is stable enough.
 
I wonder, if he is in DBN or JHB and 1.1.1.1 is routing through CPT instead of DBN or JHB. Something like that. He wants the routing to be to closest IXP instead of furthest CPT IXP.

Yeah figured, I can fix that. It's just the way the CloudFlare likes to revoke announcements all over the show.
 
For me 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8 and 9.9.9.9 are all the same in performance bracket. Of those I chose 9.9.9.9 as it is more secure and I think its more stable seeing cloudflare is all over the place on a whim.
What makes a difference is running a local caching DNS resolver on an x86 platform on the latest linux kernel.

Wouldnt it be easier to tag the routes in each region as you receive them with a region bgp community. Then configure all routers in that region to 1st prefer routes with that bgp community, and then you can also have them order which other region's communities they order. So JHB is JHB then DBN then CPT and CPT could 1st prefer CPT then DBN ect. I wish when I was still managing ISP network that there was as many options as there are nowadays in SA.

We do that already, it's just BGP and the way the route reflectors manage this which is a bit of an issue that we are working on.

They have no intention of fixing it anytime soon and to add insult to injury they're being DDOSsed every second week.
