So the SACS cable works on cool ideas. But I am still getting the same old latency from any other network.

Do I need to ask Cool Ideas to open me on that line or what?

I wonder why, It cuts SO much latency to the US
Small player base and the time difference, when they were still using the cable PUBG was still extremely popular so what ended up happening was that the local players here would get defaulted onto the SA servers without being able to select servers so you would sit in queue not finding games or you had to search at midnightly hours due to the time difference.

That's just sad, it's not only one game it's thousands that have US servers only

Same can be said about the users, it's not just one user, it's thousands.

So what are they now supposed to do when 100 of there users can't play a game at all that used to work because 10 users now get lower ping to the game that they play.

I agree it is sad and it took them a lot of work and money and they were very proud of SACS but in the end it caused too many headaches.

We paid for the SACS cable, at big expense, to improve latency for our gaming base, but unfortunately, a lot of games that has forced ping based matchmaking would then drive our user-base to Brazilian servers. And we're talking a LOT.

The feedback we got was:

1.) The servers are empty (due to timezone differences) and the game is forcing me to play in Brazil due to ping.
2.) The people on the servers are foreigners and don't speak our language, but the game forces us there due to ping.

So we cancelled the service as it was just not worthwhile and the amount of negative feedback was higher than when we just used EU services.

We will get a VPN server for SACS based games, so that a client can opt-in to play on a SACS/Brazilian/American server with better pings.

But to use the SACS cable for our customer base on a global basis was just a complete failure.

Don't blame us, blame the game companies that enforce ping based match-making. As I said, we will get a SACS based VPN route, so that people that elect to play on SACS based game scan do so.

Also, maybe something to include was how games like CoD Warezone when they pushed 40GB patches out every couple weeks would use up a large portion of the capacity since it would favour that route :)

*This is directed more towards Warzone pushing out massive patches which lead to you guys needing to try move things around to keep all routes working efficiently.

Sure, we would have upgraded the capacity if it was feasible and yes, some CDN's then choked our SACS capacity.

Again, a stupid thing which is hard to control from an ISP perspective, as suddenly CDN's decided that SACS was closer than our other routes. We could have engineered our way around it, but it wasn't worth it.

SACS did save us some latency and the additional capacity was good, but at the end of the day there was no good reason to upgrade it significantly because it didn't serve the purpose we had in mind for it in the first place -- which was reduced latency.

Browsers and download clients don't care too much about latency. Gamers do.

Which was the main reason we took capacity on it. But then gamers told us that it sucks (because of the silliness in client matchmaking).

Ergo, cancel SACS.

I realize this post is old, but it was the only one I could find.

@PBCool I assume that the SACS routing is still cancelled based on all of the above. Is the VPN situation in place as I want to try some Apex games on Brazil, however, 340-360ms.

Any way around this from an ISP side?

Brazil Apex is bad, due to time zone difference you just sit in queues and its the same experience as Bahrain I was on CISP when they had SACS Brazil servers were basically useless up until like 10pm where you would wait like 15 minutes for a game at times.

Their VPN is only EU.

Mostly referring to this part

I understand the queue times but I do play at very random hours and for large parts of the night, it worth I shot if they ever do implement it, also there's league of legends with BR servers.
