I have sent and email to "[email protected]" last night but I haven't received a response yet - ticket COOL-20181007-155876.

I may have sent the email to the wrong address or I am too impatient but I need guidance fairly quickly because my fiber connection is being installed tomorrow by Vumatel!
  1. I have a Ubiquiti Security Gateway. Do I need the router provided by Cool Ideas? All their packages include one.
  2. If I don't take it, do I pay less for the package I choose?
  3. If I DO take the router, for how long does it remain Cool Ideas'? Will they really want it back after 5 years?!
If all this is covered in their fine print, please point me there and I'll read it.

Thanks in advance for the help.

1) You can use your own router.
2) Whether you use the one provided or not it doesn't change the package price.
3) The policy is a free to use router if you cancel you return it.

The USGs can be a bit sensitive with MTU settings dependant on which type of connection you use. So keep that in mind :)

Thanks for the quick reply.

Where can I find out more about the MTU settings? And what do you mean with "which type of connection" I use? I want to sign up for the 50/5 package - if that is what you mean.

Oh, and should I wait for the installation to be completed first or can I sign up with you guys now already? Have things ready to roll for when the installation is finished. So to speak...

I got this information so far: WHAT KIND OF CONNECTION TYPE MUST I USE? So it'll be DHCP then since I am on Vumatel.

And, it seems setting the MTU on the USG is done by changing MSS Clamping from the default "Auto" to Custom. But to which value? 1452?

If it's Vumatel trenched then you can signup with us so long, your MTU can be set to auto. And then DHCP is the connection type.

I am all set up and running.

I must say the experience all round with Vumatel and Cool Ideas has been a pleasure today.
