Hi all

I want to change the coolant of my Figo but also want to flush the radiator.
One thing I’m not sure I can’t seem to locate the radiator cap (either it’s under the top front bumper panel or there isn’t )
My question will I be using the coolant expansion tank for the refill and flush or should I remove the front bumper?

Cars these days don't have radiator caps. Why do you need to remove the front bumper? Don't you have access to the hoses?

I think you just buy one of those radiator flush liquids and let it run through the radiator,
you pour it directly into the radiator itself,

Im just not 100% sure what you do after that? does one flush the system by finding a drain plug and emptying everything out,
or is there more to the story?

Drain hose at the bottom left or right of radiator, remove the clamp, have a bucket ready and remove the hose.
Pour the flush into the empty expansion tank, run the engine for a few minute ~10 minutes or so. Wait for it cool down, remove the hose again and drain it out.

After, I normally fill up the expansion tank with water, run the engine again, drain it out and repeat until the water is clear. Then I pour new coolant with the water mixture.

You just flush the thing with clean water, you can buy those fancy liquids but they are not necessary, unless you've neglected your car's cooling system.

Or take it to Ford, R########.04, job done.
:D

Thanks man...
just need some clarity after I drained the coolant I put the hose/plug back in.
I know the Figo takes about 5L of coolant.
Now with the refill do I just top up the tank and close It up and then run the engine.
Will the water in the tank be sufficient for the flush?
Or should I leave the cap open and run the engine just to make sure I get about 4L of water in the radiator?

With the car cold you will drain the coolant but not all of it will come out as some will remain inside the engine, after the first drain you put the hose back on and top up with clean water, the must be a level indicator on the bottle.Run the car until the thermostat opens, with mine it's when the temp gauge us in the middle or when you hear the fans come on.

Switch the car off and let it cool down, drain and repeat the process until the water coming out is clear of the coolant. With the final refill top up the tank up to the mark and close properly, run the car until the thermostat opens the switch the car off and check the water level, top up if necessary. Remember to switch on the heater while doing the draining so that water can circulate the heater core.

Thanks guys

Hey Guys
I’m glad to report everything went well.
I did my first vehicle repair (replacing my coolant expansion tank).
The radiator was flush and new coolant was inserted. No leaks and no temperature warning...

Thanks for the help guys
