Hello all :)

I have a Coolermaster CMII Plus

It came with the front intake fan, a top exhaust fan and a rear exhaust fan. I would like to improve the airflow in the case (especially intake). What do you guys think of the Aerocool Shark 15 blade fan?
Here is a link to a review.

Zaps has it for R104.

Lastly, would the best positioning for the fans be to mount two 140mm fans on the side panel, so that it blows straight onto the motherboard?

Thanks all in advance :D

If you're only occupying 1x 5.25" bay with like a DVD-writer, then you can add another 140mm fan in front, but you'll have to figure out a way to keep it in position. I've simply stuck the fan to the case with double-sided tape and cable tied it too.

I'd suggest that you rather get 120mm fans and place them at the bottom than to add 2x 140mm side intakes.

CM690 II..
Definitely put the door fans in as intake... the lower one will supply cool air to your gfx card and the top one to your CPU and ram. If your GFX card is on the large side it tends to block the front intake fans flow from going to the top of the case so the upper fan helps this alot.

Stock airflow is not the best on this case.

So do you think 2x 120mm fans drawing in air from the bottom of the intake is preferable to 2x 140mm drawing in air from the side?
May I ask why please Pada? Is it overkill to have another fan at the front in addition to bottom and/or side?

Thanks Pada :)

Thanks doobscoo, is this how yours is configured?

I'm doing this when I get home. always wished they had mounting holes there.

No but its how i wanted to do it, my H70 gets in the way of the top fan, so I used the spare 140mm fan as another exhaust out the top (just so it wasnt a waste of money)... So top compartment has 3 exhaust and one very restricted intake... Which is why i like Pada's idea with the drive bay mounted intake fan.

Thanks for the advice :)

Why don't you mount one of the fans on the bottom as an intake?

I prefer to have the airflow in like a single channel from bottom/front to back/top.

I haven't tested whether the side panel intakes works better/worse than the bottom ones in terms of cooling performance & noise.
In my setup it is fairly pointless to have intakes from the side, since my CPU is drawing in air from the front, and my graphics cards from the bottom.

The only reason I would add a side panel intake fan would be to get a better/higher positive air pressure inside the case, which lowers the rate at which the PC sucks in dust.

I also wish that the case had mounting holes for another front intake fan.

The way I see it my gfx card is like a baffle between top and bottom, very little of the bottom airflow gets to the top and vice versa so that would leave me with to many intakes at the bottom.
Another thing I did was remove the lower drive bays.

That makes sense, thanks for explaining it :)

Do you think it is overkill to place an additional front intake fan as well as the two side fans?

Might be, but I like overkill. If the second front intake fan is the one by the 5.25" drive bays then I would probably lose the upper door fan...
