Coolermaster REAL POWER M520 PSU

Anybody have any experience with this PSU... is it any good? If you don't have the PSU do you think it's any good?

Im particularly interested to hear if its relatively quiet as my current PSU is a vacuum

If you guys have better suggestions please dont tell me "if you spend 200 bucks more you can get a yadayada" if the yadayada isn't a massive improvement. If I had 200 bucks more to spend dont you think I would!

Thanks

The only PSU from Coolermaster that is worth it noise wise is the Silent Power Pro.

They really are some of the best around (noise wise and aren't too bad efficiency wise either, plus it comes with a 5 year warranty). I've bought 2 so far and I only build silent PCs, there are very few options when it comes to silent PSUs and Coolermaster Silent Power Pro is one of them (and the only nearly silent PSU option available in SA, all others aren't sold here).

Couldn't really find many reviews for the Real Power PSU, but you might want to check one of the web-sites listed here:

Before making your purchase. Only those listed web-sites (including http://www.hardwaresecrets.com) do valid PSU tests so any other web-sites review isn't worth the bandwidth it costs to download it.

I dont need the PSU to be that silent, my current psu is a cooler master 550w extreme and its LOUD, so I just need something softer then that. A corsair VX450/550 would be awesome but I'd really like to go modular... sigh

Thats weird that the CM EPP 550W is so loud!? I've built up a Core i7 860 rig for my office and I'm using a CM Extreme Power Plus 460W and that PC makes less noise than my laptop!

Perhaps you're running to close to the PSU's limits that its fan has to work so much harder? What components do you have in your rig?

I think it's specifically the 550W

Shame: Apart from the loudness, it was a nice little unit.

My God, this thing is so noisy!

There are waaaay more, only if you're reeeeeally lucky will you get a quiet one.

Anyway I can get a VX550 Watt from someone for R800 but it's so close to the price of one new that I'm not sure if it's worth it... should I wait for a better deal or should I take it?
