Johannesburg - A 38-year-old sergeant was arrested for allegedly shooting a woman dead at the Kempton Park police station, police said on Wednesday.

The officer was at the station at 8.30pm on Tuesday when he apparently heard a loud bang and went outside, Lieutenant Colonel Tshisikhawe Ndou said.

Once outside, he saw that a 44-year-old woman had crashed her car into a parked duty vehicle, said Ndou.

“The suspect subsequently shot the victim dead and he was immediately arrested. It is still unknown what prompted the shooting.”

The Independent Complaints Directorate had since taken over the investigation.

The man was expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court soon on a charge of murder. - Sapa
 
He must've really liked that van. Will be interesting to hear his side of the story.
 
I would love to know his reason for shooting her.

Odd story again, perhaps he thought he was being attacked or something.

Its possible but still doesn't excuse him from shooting her after she crashed.

Yea i know but i have no idea what the circumstances were. I also know that day to day the cops are involved in crazy stuff. It must be like a war sometimes and perhaps the guy freaked out. Perhaps he shot before the car stopped. I don't know how the shooting went down. All we have to go on is a cop shot someone. It does not really say anything other than that.

Sounds very dodgy to me and make no sense why he would shoot someone because they crashed into his car.
 
If recent events are anything to go by it was probably a jilted lover.
 
Was probably something like: "what type of freaking idiot parks a police van in a spot like..." *BANG!*
 
“A sergeant came around from the charge office and walked out of the station. He didn't say anything, but walked to her passenger window. He shot her upper arm and it looked like the bullet went through her breast and out of her chest,” said Baloyi.

The police officer then walked back into the police station, but returned a few seconds later.

He said he pleaded with the sergeant to call emergency services.

But, said Baloyi, the sergeant told him: “She's dying already, there's no point in calling the ambulance.”

the car back fired so he thought they were gun shots? all i can say is WTF!
 
I actually drove past a couple of minutes after it happened, had a few cop cars parked around the entrance and a forensics van, all cordoned off.

He's either gonna plead insanity or just pure stupidity.. I'm likely to believe the latter though...
 
Let me guess, this 'seargant' is just a criminal like there are many in the SAPD these days, and will probably get bailed out and get a very light sentance, if anything at all.
