Cape Town - An off-duty policeman has shot himself in the head after he allegedly raped the 18-year-old sister of his girlfriend at gunpoint.

Cops were called to the scene in Stallion Road, Westridge, Mitchells Plain, on Thursday afternoon after 2pm where they found the body of Constable Ashley Heywood, 27.

Heywood, who was stationed at Mitchells Plain, was off duty and was due to begin night shift.

Police sources close to the investigation say Heywood was visiting his girlfriend’s home. She was not there, and he allegedly held her teenage sister, who is in matric, at gunpoint and sexually assaulted her.

It’s believed that he immediately regretted his action, and turned the gun on himself.

Thank the heavens Darwin is still lurking around.

Talk about shortsighted. Can't really be disappointed the guy took his own life, saved us the manpower/money convicting and jailing him.

Should have thought about all the life destroying consequences before he pulled his dick out. Afterwards is a little too late.

Putting aside the mindless hatred for a moment, does this make any sense?

Did he decide to rape this girl without considering the implications for a moment?
Did he think he would just say "my bad" and she would be ok with it?
Was he on drugs?

How did he get from visiting his girlfriend to raping her sister and then suicide?

It doesn't make any sense.

At least he realised his mistake immediately. Unfortunately for him, he realised the consequences were grave and decided to take his life.

Alcohol is the most probable cause.

Unless the sister led him on then told him she was crying rape after the fact

True because women always do that schit?

Poor innocent man led astray by a harlot, powerless in the face of her evil machinations.

Was the girl 18 or did she say that she was 18? :D

He could've avoided offing himself because there is a 50/50 chance that she was legal. :D

Each one of us face the same old question during the course of each day, which is which side of life you are going to choose, good or bad. This guy chose to be bad and then thereafter probably suffered a sudden conflict of interest aka "turning point" in which he questioned his entire life decisions, found he was not strong enough and then suffered a complete system failure or in IT terms a "BSOD". :)
