AN Empangeni Warrant Officer was shot in the head during an armed robbery at a Chinese shop in eNseleni yesterday afternoon.
Eight armed men raided the store while an additional two remained in the Chevrolet bakkie getaway car.
Police responded to the crime and a shoot-out ensued. The officer was shot in the head as the suspects fled the scene.
The officer was transported to eNseleni Clinic for primary care and but soon after transferred to Netcare The Bay Hospital.
He is currently in ICU.
No arrests have been made.
