He runs down the quiet suburban street, two police vans in pursuit. A shot hits his arm and he falls to the ground, dropping his gun.

As he lies writhing on the pavement, injured and trapped between a fence and a delivery van - his firearm out of reach - a policeman puts a bullet through his chest.

Another walks up to him and kicks him as he lies bleeding.

Then the police constable who has just shot him in the chest has a brief word with a colleague.

The constable repositions himself, stretches out his arms, takes aim and finishes him off. Blood runs onto the pavement....

Mpanza, 32, walked into Omega Paint and Hardware store in the area. He loitered near the door, cocked his gun and then, according to a witness, walked out and fired eight shots at police sitting in a van about 60m away.

"He was so close and he just kept firing at the police, who were hiding out in their car. Then he ran and police chased after him," said the witness, who asked not to be identified.

So he ambushes the cops, shoots first, the cops chase him and shoot him , and this is a problem ? :wtf:

The cops deserve medals.

Enough of this oh shame namby pamby treatment of violent armed criminals.

Shame. While I don't condone this kind of police behaviour I'd have more sympathy for Mpanza if he didn't start the fight like he did.

Meaning if you shoot at me and miss I will probably do exactly as the cop did.

Can see this thread is going to be interesting.

My opinion: Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Sorry to say I have no sympathy for the criminal. One less criminal on the streets to kill or rob someone else. Good riddance

When the cops behave as executioners and not cops we should all be worried.

Not half as worried as when the system fails the police - as is the current situation.

Who was the other guy at the bakkie? His accomplice?

+1, Good work guys. Unfortunately, I won't be sleeping better tonight, still a lot more criminals to get rid of.

I think all the cops is on edge, after over a decade of the criminals being the executioner of cops. They have itchy trigger fingers and for good reason.

I hear you. But giving the cops carte blanche is not the answer.

I hear you, but it is the only available option. And realistically, it will remain the only option. It is time criminals start living like criminals, and law abiding citizens start living less like criminals.

Why did the cop shoot him again at the end ? @beans the bakkie was a delivery van I believe.

Edit: He deserved what he got for shooting at the police multiple times.

When the cops behave as executioners and not cops we should all be worried.

When armed criminals are considered victims of police brutality after being shot, and then portrayed in the press as anything but a violent criminal who got his just deserts, we should also be seriously worried.

Exactly.

Yeah it was a criminals but those go to court. You can't have people going around executing people for any reason whatsoever.

Unfortunately the criminals in this country have forced us to the point that I really don't give a #$%@.
Will/would probably do the same myself.
Is it right? No.
But tough. You see the criminals have no rules themselves. They don't have to stop shooting when the threat is over. They don't have to abide by any rules at all. They kill us on a daily basis. And when they get caught, they almost always get off on bail, hire a scummy lawyer like that one in the South of Jhb...who pays the judge or prosecutor, and they get off scott free.
And the next day, they are robbing, raping, murdering and hijacking us again.

So do I care? No.
In fact, if that cop loses his job...I hope someone gives him a better paid one. No-one can say the cops acted within the law here. But he tried to kill them first, he WAS NOT even close to innocent (forget innocent until proven guilty...he was guilty) and would happily have shot anyone in his way.
So reality beats fantasy. Fantasy...he is arrested and goes to jail for 25 years.
Reality...he is arrested, gets bail, and if he is ever even convicted he serves 2 years.
Result....we are glad he was executed. That's life...and death. Too bad, so sad. Rot in hell you criminal scum.

If you were mistakenly identified as a criminal and the cops started shooting at you, would you shoot back?
