Gauteng traffic police arrested a man for "flying" at over 200km/h on the N4 on Wednesday morning.
"In order to catch up with the BMW, they had to travel at a speed of 238km/h... but could not get closer to measure his speed," spokesperson Busaphi Nxumalu said in a statement.
He was first spotted near Bronkhorstspruit following complaints about his behaviour. Near the Donkerhoek weighing station he reduced his speed and officers managed to clock him at 183km/h, the slowest he had travelled since they started monitoring his speed. He was eventually pulled over after the Hans Strijdom off-ramp and arrested.
"He could only say he was sorry and was rushing for a meeting in Pretoria."
The 27-year-old was charged with reckless or negligent driving, released on R1000 bail and expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court soon.
With the amount of money the cops make off speed fines etc........why have they not purchased faster cars to catch the bad boys?
