Pretoria - In a case of being at the right place at the right time, police officers were able to foil a hijacking attempt in Pretoria West on Wednesday.

Two men in a white Toyota Hilux delivery vehicle were accosted by four armed robbers on the corner of Quagga and Roger Dyason roads.

“I had stopped at the traffic lights and there was a car in front of me. I saw the reverse light on and saw that he was trying to reverse,” said Shivraj Vaidya, the driver of the delivery vehicle.

“I also immediately tried to reverse my car because I began thinking something wrong was going on.”

Vaidya said as he was trying to reverse and drive off, he noticed another car behind him inching closer and blocking his way.

“That’s when about four men came out of the car in front and came to the passenger door with their guns. They tried to open the passenger door,” Vaidya said.

"Cops outsmart would-be hijackers"
How? by being at the right place and the right time?

And then only “One suspect was identified by our police chopper and arrested,”

Still good news though!

Quite hectic. But glad they are safe. Pity they only arrested one.

Also to a degree sounds like these guys didn't change their routine or vehicle after the last attempt on the SAME damn road.
