LONDON — The pilot of a Boeing 777 due to fly from London to Mumbai was taken off the plane by police after a breath test showed he had consumed excessive amounts of alcohol at a Christmas party the night before, the Sun reported yesterday.

Scotland Yard said Michael Harr (62) “has been bailed until February”. Airline pilots are banned from consuming alcohol eight hours before flying. — Sapa-DPA.

Zero tolerance in London!

Great stuff, we need greater law enforcement like that here. But it won't happen when the McBrides and Motatas of this world display drunken behaviour

Hahaha how can he expect to fly a plane with lots of people on with a hangover/still drunk... I'm guessing it's not his first time :(

Yeah, it probably wasn't his first time. He really should have known better, and not flown. While he will be a bit unpopular with his employers, I doubt they would have fired him for refusing to fly. That's what you have standby crew for.
