Not very intelligent at all, were they???

Johannesburg - The Hawks were following leads after crime intelligence officers were robbed of R2.2m in cash in downtown Johannesburg, the unit said on Sunday.

"Our investigations are at an advanced stage, but I cannot reveal further details," spokesperson McIntosh Polela said.

The robbery happened around 11:00 on Friday in Xavier Street. The officers had just left a bank with the money and were going back to their car when robbers confronted them at gunpoint.

City Press reported on Sunday that the money, withdrawn from an Absa bank branch, was meant for the crime intelligence's secret and witness protection funds.

What does one do with R2.2m in cash?

Not like you can buy a car or house or anything expensive anyhow?
 
I wouldn't be suprised if reports come to light that they were seen enjoying a hearty breakfast together before being asked nicely by the robbers to hand over the money with a final handshake and cheeky wink.
 
I have 2.2 mil. Listen comarade, just rob me. no killing ok, and then we share and party.....
 
I rather prefer it stolen then kept in a bank.

At least this way the bank cannot inflate our currency with fractional banking with the 2.2 million, lol.

I'm starting to wonder who the real criminals in this world are.

This is hilariousness. Who are they kidding ? They took this money the scum bags. They are the biggest robbers. Someone will be driving around in a new SUV on a cop's salary.;)

Ya...Ya... like the 8 million that a good Samaritan found by the side of the road while cutting grass and handed it over to the cops only for it to disappear into thin air while in transit to the reserve bank. ;)
 
This crime intelligence is just a band of criminals.
So they sold intelligence to their buddies for a share of the cash - well at least it is still crime intelligence.

They're the same lot led by that fired Mdluli clown who used informer money to employ his girlfriends at R18K a month as spies whose only job was ****ing him.
