Cops to oppose bail for serial rapist

Johannesburg - A case against a man charged with raping 33 girls between the ages of 10 and 14 was postponed in the Alberton Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini the 40-year-old man would be back in court for a bail application on February 28.

He has also been charged with 33 counts of attempted murder.

The man - who cannot be identified at this stage - was arrested in Edenpark at the end of January.

This was after one of the alleged victims followed him to his home and alerted the police.

The girls, from Katlehong, Thokoza, and Vosloorus, were allegedly lured to an open veld and raped between 2007 and 2011.

Forensic evidence had been produced but further tests were being done.

The police intended opposing a bail application, Dlamini said.

why the **** would you let him out on bail if he is accused of 33 counts of rape and attempted murder?!?! (btw, he must REALLY suck at being a murderer if he tried 33 times and couldn't get the job done)

Even worse - he probably never intended to murder them, just maim them. They are probably throwing the heaviest possible charge they have for each crime at him, which is rape and attempted murder.
 
Bail for any serious crime and expecially habitual/serial crimes should never even come into the equasion, mind you if I had my way there wouldn't even be money wasted on a court case...............
