Copy protection on new HDPVR and DSTV software

I noted that the new software pushes a "copy once" signal to any device on its output, in my case a DVD recorder.

Has anyone tried this to defeat the signal.

I have their DVD RED PRO for a few years now and it works very well, just wondered about the new type of flagging protection

I have the Red Pro by the same company, and it allows me to copy off the HDPVR, and even DStv on Demand off the SDPVR just fine onto my HDD Recorder.

That sounds promising, Gonna give it a bash, although I have bought the Grex one too. Just awaiting delivery. That one will be for the folks and they record to the HD all the time.

It works very well...using its for 6 months. No problems. Delivery was quick and easy....no import duties!

LOL @ protected VHS ... didn't even know you got VHS anymore!!!

Some use Macrovision.....this unit kills that signal.....So now I can record from PVR TO DVD via my DVD recorder. I can also crudely, convert my Bluray discs to DVD for my folks. I rarely use the VHS option.

Yes, Composite Video, S-Video, Component Video (Y,Pb,Pr) all work with this device.

AFAIK the HD signal is only available on HDMI. So, you need something that supports HDMI HDCP, like HDFury and of course a HD TV capture card if you want to record to pc.

You will need a hd capture card/tuner card like the Hauppauge Colossus or Hauppauage HD PVR (not to be confused with DSTV HD PVR) that will then accept a HD signal that has been stripped of its copy protection by a HD Fury or similar flea market equivalent.
