Copying/Pasting text from websites into MS Word

In the past when you wanted to copy & paste some text from a website (for easier access in the future) into MS Word, it would paste it without you having to be online.

Nowadays, @ bottom of MS Word, if you aren’t online it says : ‘’Contacting the server for information’’.

Is there any way to disable this / change settings, so you can copy & paste relevant text from sites into Word without it having to use up any / extra data in the process?
 
Why not just use somthing like PDFCreator and print the webpage to a PDF file.

Will look much better than pasting into M$ Word too
 
Paste it into Wordpad/Notepad, and then into MSWord.

easy.

if you are using IE, you can save a web page as a single file (like the ff addon)
File> save as> web archive, single file

lol, whats wrong with copying a document? they have photocopying machines at the library you know - why is this any different?
 
Together with a notice about copyright infringement..
Altho - i do have about 10000 mps in my collection.
Hundreds of movies and software.

Found this to be the best option, but using PrimoPDF instead - still not 100% but will work on it. Sometimes only want selected text from an article, for reference only at a later stage - i.e. instructions on how to do certain tasks.

Tried this, and computer froze for a while - like the idea, but think PDF format may be better

As stated above, I only used text for reference purposes, and often only want selected text from 1 page. Last I heard, one can legally photocopy 10% of a book without infringing upon copyright, so, by extension, I presume that a single page, or two, from a site, won't nearly be 10% of what's available on most sites these days.
 
There is a neat little app called Puretext. When you copy text to the clipboard and use the Windows key + V when pasting it pastes the text as plain text (ie. with no rich text or requirement to goto the website to check).

Thanks for this additional info. - will certainly look into both - theoretically they look to be the simplest I've come across.
