Cordless Hammer Drill - Advice

Once you've experienced a rotary hammer you'll never go back to a "normal" hammer drill.
Eh, depends. I often just use my cordless hammer drill instead of my corded rotary hammer if I'm drilling a few small holes (like 5 or 6mm). If it's a lot of holes, big holes, or into a lintel or other concrete I'll grab the rotary hammer.

Thats why you get a cordless rotary hammer drill. NOW you can grab it each time :)

Unless you retired and looking for stuff to do at home to keep you busy, cordless tools are not worth the money for the few occasions the average Joe will use it every year. And then often having to charge it first before you need to drill something because you haven't used it for so long.
Its like buying a Tesla but you only drive once a week to Spar.

I feel the opposite.. My cordless drill is the best tool I have purchased in years. For home DIY use. It makes every job at home so much easier.

I am tired of so many cables on a multiplug.
2 drills, angle grinder, belt sander, circular saw
Cables become tangled
Cordless all the way nowadays

You making pots and pans there in your Flat? Why do you need all those tools all at once plugged into your multiplug every day?

My multievo is probably the best thing I've bought in the last decade.

Will disagree with this entire statement.

When you have more than 1 battery, its too easy, to just swap them around. I have one in the charger, ready to go. The charger is smart enough to stop charging when the battery is full, so no problem leaving it there.

Then, when I see the battery on the tool is flat, I just rotate to the next battery ready to go. Few seconds, maybe minutes of downtime, spent walking to the charger and back.

As for buying a Tesla, n/a for South Africans really.

Listen I have no problem with cordless tools. Had a few before and even sometimes wish I had one again.
The fact remain. The average Joe will use a drill once or twice a year sometimes not even once a year. The average Joe will also not have a workbench in the garage. Tool is just thrown in a cupboard or drawer. SO no chargers with spare batteries standing around.
The fact remain, if you don't use tools that much, you can buy a corded tool of much better quality and power for much cheaper. And getting out a electric cord once in a while to use them is not a big hassle.

I dont have a workbench in a garage. I sometimes use a tool once a year, sometimes multiple times a year. So I must be average Joe then. Still disagree with you. Having a charger plugged in and waiting is really not that hard. The only thing you must do, is stay with the same tool range that use the same batteries. Corded tools really are old school, or if you use it for a job, in which case they really are used much harder depending on the tool.

You joke but I literally ordered one just after I posted this :p

Went with this bad boy https://www.toolcraft.co.za/product...li-with-one-chuck-solo?variant=40212814757990 seeing as I already have a ton of Bosch batteries.
Oh you going to love this tool. Just make sure you use 3ah+ batteries. The smaller ones wont work. It will slice like butter through concrete walls.

Epic that it can take both sds and normal drill bits. Mine is SDS only. What a nice upgrade.

For my occasional use for home DIY, I recently bought this kit at Makro.

Yeah, got a bunch of 5ah batteries because I hate having to charge batteries all the time. Really looking forward to getting it.

I used to have the Makita cordless SDS (DHR202ZK) and I sold it to buy the Bosch GBH 18V-26F SDS. My main driver when selecting the Bosch was performance and the price of the battery (I try to keep the estate/brand the same). The Bosch has out performed the Makita in every area. I've only owned these 2 brands so I can't offer any long term opinion on other brands (Dewalt, etc.).

Just charge it before putting it away, it's not like modern batteries just magically go flat.

In fact you WANT to do that before storing them so they last longer and don't swell.

Besides a drill can be used as a screw driver too and that is at least a monthly occurrence to me.

Yip, whichever way work for you. I am just saying, I don't buy the excuse that battery operated tools aint for average Joe.

100%.

I wish it was something I spent money on when I bought my first tools then I probably would have only ever have bought once and never again.

Like buying Gedore from the very start instead of all sorts of "sets" and other kak.
