Hi there,

Noticed a very annoying and very strange phenomena with my CPU. It refuses to increase its Bus speed to the standard 333Mhz. Instead, it will ALWAYS run on a 166mhz bus, regardless of BIOS settings. (See Image)

I've turned off EIST and SpeedStep, and set the bus speed manually in the BIOS, but with no luck. What could be the issue here?:(

What motherboard do you have? A BIOS update could fix the issue - like RedhotNeo mentioend.

Also check if it doesn't have a jumper that forces the FSB to 166Mhz instead of 333MHz.

EIST/SpeedStep only affects the CPU multiplier and not the FSB.

I've got an MSI X48 Platinum mobo. Will try and flash the BIOS and see if that fixes it. Weird thing is, the MSI D.O.T application reports the CPU at 2800MHz, while CPU-ID reports the clock speed as 1400MHz. Which one is the most accurate?

UPDATE: Thank you RedHotNeo! Flashing the BIOS to its latest version fixed the problem and my clockspeed is now running at full! You're a lifesaver bud!!
