Hey guys

I'm looking to build an i7 system for myself. The only components i'll be needing are the:

  • CPU
  • Mobo
  • RAM
  • Case

I just recently bought an MSI GTX 275, and the rest of the components would be reused from my current Core2Duo E6400 system.

I'm looking at spending R8K on those components.

Any Suggestions?

Asus P6TSE R 2506
Intel i7 920 R 2723
Ram 2x2GB DDR3 R 455ea
Case Cm elite 335 w/sw R approx R500
Total R 6637!

Sounds good but from what i read the P6TSE does not support SLI, this would be hampering my future room for expansion.
Still looking round for the perfect mobo then.....

TBH i doubt you will even go sli, the 5 series cards are just around the corner and the GT3xx should be here sometime at the end of the year or at the beginning of next year. Those cards will probably outperform sli GTX275s

Ye I agree, ..very few people go SLI or crossfire, as it could also involve having to get a bigger PSU as well.

Single cards FTW ;)

I see they also sell the RAM for i7's as kits of 3. Is this a requirement, or can you just go buy 3 individual sticks? Sure they need to be of the same type.

it's because it is preferable to get tri-channel working for performance purposes

Get the following

R3000 - i7 920
R3000 - P6T (standard version supports SLI and XFire) Maybe even go for the R2G
R1000 - 3x1GB Corsair dominator
R800 - CM 690

Rough prices but close enough.
