I have no idea why I never updated what happened.
I have had my left eye done(epi off)
It was pretty painful recovery wise!
I still have to have the right one done, interesting that discovery supports it now, they didnt when I had the other one done.
Will definitely look into it as I need to get contacts for sports and Im not keen on the hard lenses.

give the hybrid lenses a serious look. Ive used them for ages when I play squash. Vision and comfort levels are excellent (although vision is always going to be better with hard lenses)

Those sound good, is there any specific brand you use?
Im mainly interested in them for sports. I wear glasses the rest of the time even though they give the worst vision out of the three.

I think they are the toric hydrowave lenses. Although googling them they say they only last 3 months, mine have lasted over 3 years.
The invoice definitely says toric hydrowave though

I went for epi on because its less invasive. I was extremely unlucky that I had some deterioration in my left eye because of it, but very slight. Since then though I have had zero progression of the disease and wish I had done this sooner.

I am on discovery and they did not pay, although this was about 2 years ago or so.

The epi off is much more invasive and studies i have read seem to indicate that it is not that much better than epi on. Doctors seem to be arguing over it, but anything less invasive is always a win for me

hello I found this thread and it has helped a lot. I have been diagnosed with K. I would like to do the epi-on cxl but I’m not finding any doctors who can do it. May you please send me the name of the doctor that performed it on you.

I went to Stef Guggliemeti.

Thank you for replying. How has the procedure helped you and has the K stopped progressing?

I have had very little change in vision degradation over the last 5 years which is amazing.
I was unlucky that just after the procedure my left eye weakened slightly, apparently this is rare.

From my perspective it was absolutely worth it and I would do it again, I just wish I had done it younger.
I am getting a bit older now so the cornea hardens naturally which may also contribute to the halting of the disease

Just an update regarding my consultation with Dr Roland (he works with Doctor Guglielmetti at his practice). I was hoping to go and get the epi-on procedure but he said I must do the epi-off procedure as he doesn’t do the Epi-on. He also said my corneas are more than 400microns. I was disappointed about this because this means I have no choice but to do the epi-off. I really don’t want to do the epi-off but I have no choice as I can not find any doctors who can perform the Epi-on.

This seems odd, your cornea is relatively thick so epi-off is an option but I dont see why EPI-on would be excluded.
I am not an ophthalmologist and I guess you would need to trust your medical practitioner.
Was Stef not available?

I guess he wasn’t because I had called to book an appointment with him but the receptionist told me only Dr Roland was available. I also thought it was a choice but it’s not even an option. I feel like I’ve wasted a lot of money by going there as they only take cash for their consultations (which are very expensive). Did they give you a choice on what procedure should be done or did they choose for you? If you don’t mind answering this question please tell me how thick were your corneas when you had the procedure done?

I chose. I will have to find one of my old scans then, I am not sure I still have them around
