CORRUPT Downloads Please Help

I had a residential ADSL account 384KBPS and I switched to business ADSL 512
I can't download anything, I browse fine, but all the files I download are corrupt, whether it be skype or openoffice, or even winamp, everythings corrupt.
I phoned telkom, they tested the line and says everythings fine.

I've got a Nforce 4 4X motherboard and Nvidia Firewall installed, I've disabled it, and I'm not running any antivirus software. I have no solution to this problem, my downloads average about 20- 30 K, it sucks, I got like 70 - 80 on the 384 line.

Please give me a solution, it's extremely frustrating.

I have had the experience several times where a virus is actually corrupting the file as it downloads.
The first thing i would do is go to trend housecall home page and do an online scan.
(just google 'housecall")

Verify that your system is clean, then install antivir from here: http://www.free-av.com/

Go to the configuration section and set the win32 heuristic detection on and on high mode.
Clean your system, try also hijackthis and send me the log file by PM if you are unsure.

That "not running antivirus software" is possibly your problem.

I agree with Simple Twist Of Fate. The fact that all your downloads get corrupted gives an indication that its more likely to be a local thing(local as in your pc.) Also Clipse has a point leaving Uber 384 like that!! Choices! Choices!!

So clipse, did you come right already, ? actually a format isnt a bad idea
if you really want to sort out a drive, use ranish partition manager, its fits on a stiffy with yur 98 bootfiles.
use the program to write zero's to the hard drive and then use the xp disc to partition and format, oh and ntfs is better

As for the downloads i mentioned on the 384 line, I got up to 90K using leechget, no BS. This 512 line sucks.
The pc is brand new, not even a week old. I installed xp on a clean formatted drive last thursday, so I'm not formatting it again.
I'll check out if it's a virus tho, thanks for all the reply's, appreciate it

Got this problem sorted out in the new year

If you've got a nforce board and experiencing the same problems, just download the latest Nforce drivers, seems to have fixed it all.
